Adelaide Strikers v Sydney Sixers @ Adelaide Oval
Wednesday 14th December
The Adelaide Strikers host the Sydney Sixers at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday night – the first match for both these sides in the tournament.
The Sixers have opened favourites to win the competition – the Strikers are currently around a $8.50 chance with most of the bookies.
Whilst the Sixers are historically a tough team to beat I quite like the Strikers here as an outsider at home. They played well against the Sixers in both encounters last year and have signed two big hitters – Chris Lynn and Colin de Grandhomme. Their bowling unit is always solid.
Suggested Bet – 1 Unit Adelaide Strikers Win @ $2.23
Brisbane Heat v Melbourne Renegades @ The Gabba
Thursday 15th December
With just six wins between them last season both of these sides will see this as a huge opportunity to make a positive start to BBL 12.
There is quite a few changes to both squads. The Heat have made some big signings with the bat – internationals Sam Billings and Colin Munro join their squad as does Englishman Sam Hain. Hain won’t be a name overly familiar to Australian fans but he has plenty of talent and a good T20 record.
West Indian Andre Russell is a big signing for the Renegades – he made a big impact in the limited games he played for the Stars last season and is a crucial wicket for the Heat to take.
The market hasn’t missed the Renegades especially given they are on the road but they do look the bet here. Whilst there is no doubt the Heat batting line up has some x factor their bowling attack looks weak to my eye and could be exposed on a flat Brisbane wicket.
Suggested Bet 1 Unit Melbourne Renegades Win @ $1.86
