Tristarc Stakes 2023 Race Details

Race 7 at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday the 21st October 2023.

The Tristarc Stakes is a Group 2 1400 metre set weights plus penalties race for mares four-years-old and upwards run by the Melbourne Racing Club on Caulfield Cup day in October. It is run at Caulfield as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. The total prize money is $300,000 this year.

Tristarc Stakes 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Nine mares have accepted for the $300,000 Group 2 Tristarc Stakes.  There are a lot of good jocks and trainers involved in this race!  Cést Magique looks set to go around favourite coming off two very solid 1200m runs.  Kiwi mare Skew Wiff and Wrote To Arataki have been the two early firmers.

1.  Madame Pommery

She won the Thousand Guineas here last year.  Hasn’t won since and might be looking for a wet track but I like the fact she gets James McDonald back on.

2. Skew Wiff

Kiwi mare who was a Group 1 winner in NZ last start beating Legarto who won the Australian Guineas in the Autumn.  That form reads well and she has jumped out well at Cranbourne leading in.

3. Revolutionary Miss

Has a very good Caulfield record.

4. Shuffle Dancer

Wasn’t beaten far in the Blazer Stakes last start and draws perfectly in barrier six.  Place chance.

5. Wrote To Arataki

Thought her effort to run third was huge at Flemington last start when three wide the trip.  Look for her to roll forward and run a good race here.

6. Wollombi

Won The Vanity over this distance in the Autumn but I don’t think she’s good enough and the map looks to be against.

7. Waltz On By

Was fourth at Flemington last start in the Blazer.  Ready to peak third up and has drawn well.

8. Cést Magique

Quality four year old mare who ran second in the Coolmore Stud Stakes last year.  Her two runs back have been very solid and she looks ready to peak here at 1400m.  The one to beat.

9. Call Di

Mare who has talent but does a few things wrong.  B Shinn on here from the good draw looks a good recipe for her to run well at odds.
