The Gateway 2023 Race Details
Race 8 at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday the 9th of December 2023.
The Gateway is a Feature race held at Eagle Farm Racecourse and is run over 1400 metres. It is for four-year-old horses and is run under set weights conditions. The total prize money is $300,000 this year.

The Gateway 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Freedom Rally will be very hard to beat in this. 3/3 at this track and 2/2 second up. Orman sticks and this race looks ideal. Midnight In Tokyo is the danger and brings in the best last start rating while Ekaterina has been up a while this prep but has a few wins on the board. Count Da Beans will do no work from barrier 1 and also goes in the mix.
The Gateway 2023 Runner by Runner
1. The Vowels (12)
Going along oaky but well and truly due for another win. Capable but has a tough field to contend with. Leaning to others.
2. Flashing Steel (17)
Can’t have.
3. Standing Order (5)
Building an impressive record and while this is its toughest test to date it does have a kind draw and good map. Hard to beat with those things in mind.
4. Count Da Beans (1)
Maps for a gun run and will prove hard to beat in this field. Should enjoy the extra trip and will be tough to stave off in this suitable affair.
5. Freedom Rally (10)
3/3 on this track, 2/2 second up, Orman sticks and the only negative is the wide draw. This race is well and truly within reach and the price appeals.
6. Dream Hour (6)
Good win first up and didn’t do a lot last start. Would have to lift off that effort to be taking this out but isn’t hopeless.
7. Cocobrew Express (13)
Can’t have.
8. Warby (9)
Having a good prep but this is a decent rise in grade. Inclined to respect any market moves.
9. Epicus (11)
Can’t have.
10. John Rambo (4)
Danger to the top pick. Lightly raced with plenty of upside. Should get a cosy run from the barrier and this race is within reach. Can take this out and has halved in price since opening.
11. Deer Trail (3)
This looks too tough.
12. Houston Rocket (2)
Can’t have.
13. Ekaterina (16)
Having a good prep but the knock is the barrier. May get too far back although if within range is capable of taking this out.
14. Sakura Girl (8) – SCRATCHED
15. Midnight In Tokyo (7)
Classy runner that brings in some strong ratings. Should get a lovely tow into the race from the draw and this is within reach.
16. Sunset Soiree (18)
Has strung together two wins in a row but harder here. Place chance.
17. Ultimate Outcome (14) – SCRATCHED
18. Seventies Hit (15)
Can’t have.
