Matron Stakes 2024 Race Details

Race 8 at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday the 9th of March 2024.

The Matron Stakes is a Group 3 race held at Flemington Racecourse and is run over 1600 metres. It is for mares aged four-years-old and older and is run under set weights and penalties conditions. The total prize money is $200,000 this year.

Matron Stakes 2024 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Eternal Flame looks ready for the rise in trip and maps to get clean air with Lane doing the steering. Foxy Frida has good ability and was solid when resuming. Unusual Culture is getting mighty hard to catch but does have the right credentials to be going close in this while the same can be said about Foxy Cleopatra who is overdue for a win but does look well placed. Running By also has claims in this even race.

Has the class edge on a lot of these and loves racing here. Can be swooping on them late and looks around the right price.

3. Unusual Culture (6)

Going along well but does need another win. Brings in the strongest last start rating and looks well placed from barrier 6. Goes right in the mix.

4. Rumbled Again (2)

Can’t have.

5. Running By (3)

Racing in good fashion and should get every hope from barrier 3. Does have the form on the board to give this a shake.

6. Foxy Cleopatra (9)

Getting hard to catch but does have claims in this field and Shinn steering is ideal. Take on trust.

7. Belle Savoir (8)

Can’t have.

8. Pioneer Lass (5)

Prefer others.

9. Arale (1)

Can’t have.

10. Eternal Flame (11)

Solid without threatening last start and is due for a change of luck. Don’t mind barrier 11 for its racing pattern but does need to notch up another win.
