Rosehill

Rosehill races are run at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, which is run by the Australian Turf Club which runs all four Sydney racetracks. There are 2 major carnivals in the autumn and the spring. The biggest race day meeting held by the club is the Golden Slipper meeting when the world’s richest 2YO race for thoroughbreds takes place at Rosehill races with five other Group 1 races on the card.

The dash for cash was introduced in 1957 with the legendary Todman saluting the judge first. The Golden Slipper race has gone on to have a big bearing on the Australian Thoroughbred breeding industry with the majority of boom Golden Slipper runners going on to stand at stud, the most notable being Redoute’s Choice and the 1995 Golden Slipper winner Flying Spur.

Altogether there are eight Group 1 races in the autumn, while the spring carnival is highlighted by the Group 1 Golden Rose and the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes, Tea Rose Stakes and Gloaming Stakes.
