Horse Racing Tips : WA Saturday 10th December 2022

Our Ascot Horse Racing Tips for Saturday’s meeting. The major race is the Group 1 The Gold Rush (race 9). The other feature is the Listed G.A. Towton Cup (race 8).

Best Bet

Alsephina (Ascot Race 7 No. 3)

Winner of her last 3 races. She won over 1650m at Belmont on 24 September then after an 8 week let-up she was a 0.7 length winner over 1400m at Ascot on 19 November. Has won 3 from 3 at Ascot and should win again.

Best Each Way

The Velvet Queen (Ascot Race 10 No. 14)
This four-year-old mare won or placed at all 6 starts last campaign, and resumed for a narrow win over 1400m at Ascot on 16 November. She is very consistent and has performed well second-up before. She looks a great each-way chance.

$5.10

Best Lay

Hardly Ever (Ascot Race 6 No. 7)

This four-year-old Nicconi mare is the early favourite in this Rating 66+ Handicap over 1200m. She finished last campaign with 3 lengths 4th over 1200m at Belmont on 9 July, then resumed from a 20 week spell for 2 lengths 4th over 1000m at Ascot on 26 November. The $3.20 looks too short for me.

$3.20

As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with an advantage to those who find the inside lanes in the straight. Our Newcastle tips for Thursday's meeting. Key Comments The best bet looks well placed first up and can give this a shake with some credible form lines. The track has been playing very fair lately. Best Bet Left Field (Newcastle Race 6 No. 4) Wasn't far away all last prep and looks nicely weighted with the claim.
