Southern Chilli looks very hard to beat here. It was excellent on debut and the horse that beat it Takshaka was heavily backed and bolted in on the weekend. Meech takes the steer, it is drawn well in barrier 3 and it wouldn’t surprise me if it put a space on these.

Onika (Casteron Race 7 No. 6)
Onika looks well treated here just carrying 1kg more for the drop in grade. It will be suited by the dry tracks, maps to get every chance and simply looks the one to beat on form. The $2.60 is worth taking and it should go into odds on come race day.

Best Lay
Laureus (Casteron Race 3 No. 7)
Laureus was okay on debut but has come up short in early markets. It was slow to begin and from barrier 1 might get caught in a tricky spot. I simply think the danger in the market has a few lengths on it so the $3.10 is short enough.
