Has been wet in Melbourne during the week but the rain is set to clear and I expect them to be on an improving track. With the way Flemington drains it wouldn’t shock to see it get to the better side of soft. I have done the form for a soft 5 and I expect it to race fair. The Group 1 Turnbull Stakes is clearly the race of the day with the Hong Kong Champ Romantic Warrior making his Australian debut.
Best Bet
Tamerlane (Flemington Race 10 No. 5)
Thought his run was good first up and I think he takes a stack of an improvement from that. Gets the in-form D Lane on and I like backing horses that settle on the speed over 1400m at Flemington. He’s no moral but at $4 I think he represents a good gamble. Saving Charterhouse at $9.5 also.

Best Each Way
Konasana (Flemington Race 4 No. 10):
Dropping back in trip is a slight concern but I loved the late strength last start and was keen to try and find a different form line in this.

Stretan Angel (Flemington Race 5 No. 9):
Was visually very good first up but the times out of that race are poor and the form did not stack up at the Valley last week. I have to be against her at the current odds. Would be shocked if she doesn’t get out to better odds on the day.
