Surefire (Flemington Race 2 No. 8)
Surefire looked the winner in a messy Geelong Cup before Emissary sprouted wings down the outside to get the better of him late. There was good margin back to third there and the Waller galloper will be well served with the 2400m run under his belt. Should get a lovely run from the gate with Jmac in the saddle. Happy to be with him at $4.

Best Each Way
Turaath (Flemington Race 5 No. 7):
Turaath is a quality mare. She wasn’t beaten far at Caulfield first up (a nice pipe opener), then missed the start at Geelong which is never good for an on speed runner but still found a way to win. Hoping for a cleaner jump here. 1400m on the speed is her go.

Best Lay
Pungo (Flemington Race 1 No. 12):
Chris Waller has a good record in this race and I never like laying his runners especially with McDonald in the saddle – however I think the Waller/McDonald combo has been baked too heavily into the current price. This colt whilst he is very progressive has a decent margin to bridge on some of the others on exposed ratings. It won’t shock if he wins but I don’t think he deserves to be this short.
