Our Launceston Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting. The feature races are the Launceston Cup (race 8), Vamos Stakes (race 7) and Mowbray Stakes (race 9).

Fivefingerdiscount (Launceston Race 10 No. 1)
With two wins and two 2nds from four starts, this five-year-old Pins gelding has a top record. He led early and fought back when headed for 0.4 length 2nd over 1006m on a heavy track at Sale on 19 December, then returned from an eight week let-up for a 1.5 length win over 1200m at Hobart on 13 February. Has drawn the inside barrier and looks well placed here. Should win.

Each Way

Indigo Girls (Launceston Race 4 No. 9):
This four-year-old Mawingo mare trained by Graeme McCulloch has two wins and three places from 16 starts. She was slow starting and was a clear last before working to the line for 2.5 lengths 5th over 2100m at Hobart on 23 January, then kept coming for a narrow win over 2100m at Launceston on 6 February. This is the same track and distance and she looks a good each-way bet.

Galenus (Launceston Race 6 No. 9):
This five-year-old Magnus gelding trained by Scott Brunton has five wins and two places from 10 starts and is the early favourite in this Quality Handicap over 1200m. When resuming from a 30 week spell he chased hard to the 150m when his run peaked and he finished 3.2 lengths 4th over 1000m at Flemington on 18 December, then he died on his run to finish 5.1 lengths 6th over 1120m at Launceston on 14 January. Hasn’t shown his best this campaign and I’m willing to risk him.

Best Bet Dantela (Port Lincoln Race 3 No. 1) Dantela has been racing in terrific form lately with 2 wins, 4 places and a 4th from her last 7 runs. Our Yarra Valley Tips for Sunday's meeting. Key Comments The feature is the $125,000 Yarra Valley Cup (race 7). The best bet comes up at a nice price and looks to get a nice run in transit. Best Bet Apres La Mer (Yarra Valley Race 6 No.4) Sat outside the leader last run and just over raced a touch. Should get a gun run in transit here and this looks slightly easier than last start. $8.00 holds good appeal. $8.00

Best Bet Tycoon Demon (Geraldton Race 8 No. 5) Tycoon Demon hasn't run a bad race with 2 wins and 3 places from his 6 starts. Last start he was slowly away and tightened late to finish 1.8 lengths 5th. Forgive him that run ad he can bounce
