Best Bets

Our Launceston Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting. The feature event is the Tasmanian St Leger (race 6).

Romary (Launceston Race 5 No. 1)
This four-year-old Puissance de Lune grey mare has five wins and a place from her nine starts. At the end of last campaign she won four in a row, then resumed from a 13 week break for a 0.8 length win over 1400m at Launceston on 2 March. This looks no harder and she should take her winning streak to six.

Each Way

Eighty Eight Days (Launceston Race 3 No. 10):
This six-year-old Skilled geldinge trained by Adam Trinder is a good each-way chance here. Last start he missed the kick and got buried between runners before making an eye-catching finish for 2.7 lengths 6th over 1200m at Launceston on 2 March.Should go well.

Best Lay

Gee Gee Can Win (Launceston Race 8 No. 2):
This four-year-old Wordsmith gelding has one win and six places from 18 starts and is the early favourite in this Class 1 Handicap over 1600m. He finished well for 1.2 lengths 3rd over 1390m at Hobart on 11 February, then was picked off late for 1.8 lengths 2nd over 1600m at Launceston on 2 March. Is having trouble getting his 2nd win and I think he will be beaten again.
