Our Devonport Horse Racing Tips for Sunday.
Rail: True (Previously True)
Surface: All-Weather Turf (Synthetic)
Notes: The Devonport track has raced pretty well all season as we head into the last meeting. It should be relatively fair, but it’s worth noting that the rail hasn’t been a great place to be in recent times with wear and tear. Any notable bias will largely be tempo dependent. As this is a synthetic tapeta-based surface, weather has minimal effect on how it races.
As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.
Jockeys to follow:
– Brendon McCoull: 22.1%SR @ 9.6% POT @ Devonport
– Erica Byrne-Burke: 18.5%SR @ 5.4% POT @ Devonport
Trainers to follow:
– Glenn Stevenson: 15.9% SR @ 8.1% POT @ Devonport
– Nigel Schuuring: Career 13.8%SR @ 22.1% POT @ Devonport
Key Comments
Best Bet
Drinks At Vista (Devonport Race 4 No. 1):
Ex- Danny O’Brien horse who’s first up in TAS. Has landed in the astute Adam Trinder camp and senior rider Brendon McCoull jumps straight on – which is a strong push in itself. Drawn the pole she should get a kind run behind the speed and be looking to run over the top of them late. This is much easier than the races she’s contested in Victoria and I hope she can show her class edge here.
$5.00/2.00 (strong bet on a 2×3 basis)
Best Each Way
Gee Gee Plane (Devonport Race 5 No. 2):
After scratchings this race has lost a lot of speed, leaving GEE GEE PLANE to assume control. He comes out of a strong race behind some in-form gallopers, and was 1st up off a freshen there. Loves the track and has ran well enough at this trip previously, looks an easy bet to have up on-speed.
$10.00/3.00 (backing on a 1×3 each-way basis)
Best Lay
Ozturk (Devonport Race 2 No. 9):
Ran well last start at the 1450m and got pipped late. Looks very short in an even race, not sure jumping back in trip is a positive for a mare who looks very one-paced. Think she should be near twice the price he is early in betting.
LAY at < $3.20

Our Pakenham Tips for Sunday's meeting. Key Comments The rail is out 7 metres the entire circuit. The best bet lines up on the back off some strong effort in a recent trial and looks well placed against these. Expecting those to run on and have their chance in the straight. Best Bet Egerton (Pakenham Race 2 No. 5) Trialled behind a lot of these and looked very good hitting the line with plenty of steam. The wide draw means it'll get back
