Our Hobart Horse Racing Tips for Sunday’s meeting.
Key Comments
Track: Good 4
Rail: +8m (Previously +4m)
Notes:
Track continues to race well, with the rail moving out from the true position I think it could be an advantage to get to the middle of the track in the straight.
As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.
Jockeys to follow:
– Troy Baker: 11.2%SR @ 4.8% POT @ Hobart
– David Pires: 26.9%SR @ 8.7% POT @ Hobart
Trainers to follow:
– JL Keys: 16.4%SR @ 29.6% POT @ Hobart
– Imogen Miller: 15.5%SR @ 11.5% POT @ Hobart
Best Bet
Monte Bianco (Hobart Race 3 No. 7):
Not a huge amount of tempo here, likely to end in a dash home. Given this race shape, I thought MONTE BIANCO was the horse best suited to be strong late. She closed off strongly on resumption over 1400m and looks well-placed up in trip.
I expect Daniel Ganderton to be relatively negative out of the gates and land in a 3-wide trail. If he can blend into the race on the corner I think she’ll let down strongly late.

Extreme Gem (Hobart Race 5 No. 4):
Open race with a bit of speed on paper. Of those up on speed, I was happy to follow up on the strong TAS debut of EXTREME GEM. She was 1st up, off 1 trial and a 331 day spell prior to that and led a strong tempo, fading late. If she can lob in front or just in behind the first couple I think she should be better for the run and be able to run into the money.
$8.00/2.50 (backing on a 1×3 basis)*
* I think she might drift and be worth backing at SP.
