Vokes (Devonport Race 10 No. 6)

Hoping to finish the day with a MORAL. This looks a race in two on paper, but I’m hoping it’s a race in one – VOKES. Love this filly, she lands on then bunny and goes quick. Siggy Carr sticks and after a lovely trial at Devonport she looks ready to win on resumption. She sat outside ELLA EXCEEDS in her trial and went past her with ease under little riding. ELLA EXCEEDS lines up here and definitely looks the main danger, however I’m not sure she’ll find the lead under race day pressure and should find VOKES far too speedy to chase down.

Miss Charlie Brown (Devonport Race 8 No. 10):
Tough day to find an each-way bet, but I thought MISS CHARLIE BROWN represented some value in a hot race. She resumes here off a nice piece of work at the trials. Admittedly short of her best trip, she looks to have come back super and I wouldn’t put it past Adam Trinder to have her forward enough to be competitive here. She should land in behind JULIUS and be ready to pounce late.

Best Lay

Lacerate (Devonport Race 3 No. 4):

To say the early price of LACERATE is poison is an understatement. Although locally trained and an honest on-pacer, he likely faces his hardest task to date. He also gets a negative jockey switch with Daniel Ganderton jumping on here. No knock on Daniel’s ability but he’s a more conservative jock and this horse can go very keen out of the gates – not a great mix given his drawn gate 10 here with speed to his inside. I think debutants BARBIE’S ACHIEVER and MULTISANTI or MISIRLOU are better placed to win this contest.
