Horse Racing Tips: TAS Sunday 29th May 2022

Zegrey (Devonport Race 8 No. 7):

TERRACOTTA has relished the dirt thus far in TAS after coming over from Lindsey Smith’s yard. She maps to get a soft run a few pairs off the speed and if she gets out late can run home strong and into the money. BETHPAGE has gone super in her first 2 runs in TAS and found 1 better each time, and from the draw the task looks a bit trickier this time. I think they’ll have to go forward, but she may be the victim of a tough run in transit here. I thought one at odds worth looking at was ZEGREY, who’s second up for Adam Trinder. Admittedly looks short of his best trip but he looks to get a kind run 3 fence, and I think in a genuine run race he can be strong to the line late. OUR SHINKANSEN can never be discounted, especially fresh, but looks to map back in the field, and doesn’t love the dirt.

BACK Zegrey 0.25 units WIN and 0.25 units PLACE at $20/4.2+

Julius (Devonport Race 9 No. 1):

JULIUS has come up fave here in early betting and it’s probably justified but I couldn’t entertain the price. He’ll likely land in front and give a great sight but I’m of the opinion he’s a complete milk drinker and will puncture at the 100m mark. Senior rider is a plus, but a tongue tie goes on 3^rd up and smells of desperation. LORD WHITEGATE looks to land behind the speed in JULIUS. He goes up in grade here but actually ran super time last start for a Class 1, and will be around the mark, price looks a touch skinny – not out of it. Pretty keen to be with NEED TO BE UNIQUE here. Drops in class and had excuses last start when peaking late on his run, and was still able to finish in the money. If he can follow JULIUS or LORD WHITEGATE in the run he should get a nice cart in and prove too good.
