Horse Racing Tips : TAS Sunday 17th September 2023

Our Devonport Horse Racing Tips for Sunday.

Key Comments

Rail: True (Previously True)
Surface: All-Weather Turf (Synthetic)

Notes: The Devonport track races well and it should be relatively fair, but it’s worth noting that the rail hasn’t been a great place to be in recent times with wear and tear. Any notable bias will largely be tempo dependent. As this is a synthetic tapeta-based surface, weather has minimal effect on how it races.

As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.

Jockeys to follow:
– Brendon McCoull: 22.3%SR @ 8.4% POT @ Devonport
– Erica Byrne Burke: 19.2%SR @ 9.3% POT @ Devonport

Trainers to follow:
– Glenn Stevenson: 15.7% SR @ 6.5% POT @ Devonport
– Angela Brakey: 12.9%SR @ 3.4% POT @ Devonport

Best Bet

Stone Cold Stunner (Devonport Race 2 No. 13)

1st up in TAS for the Glenn Stevenson stable. Should land near the speed from the middle-to-wide draw and prove too good late. Best Victorian form would be winning this.

$3.00

How to pick a winner

Best Each Way

Spirited Toff (Devonport Race 4 No. 7)

Placed dead last start over the 1009m dash, and looks more suited here over 1350m. Gets down to 50kg after the claim, and wouldn’t be surprised if they had a look for the top here. Comes out of strong races in this grade and could be one the market misses at a price.

$7.50/3.00 (backing on an each-way basis)

Best Lay

Monte Bianco (Devonport Race 7 No. 9)

Got the job done last start in this grade and can definitely win again, however this looks a more even contest and as a consequence its price in the market is too short. There’s some chance Daniel Ganderton might need to navigate past a few slow ones here from the pole draw and if he can’t get out early enough horses like AFRICAN THUNDER and WILLBY RULES will be making their runs down the middle and be off and gone.
