Horse Racing Tips : TAS Sunday 10th September 2023

Our Devonport Horse Racing Tips for Sunday.

Key Comments

Rail: True (Previously True)
Surface: All-Weather Turf (Synthetic)

Notes: The Devonport track races well and it should be relatively fair, but it’s worth noting that the rail hasn’t been a great place to be in recent times with wear and tear. Any notable bias will largely be tempo dependent. As this is a synthetic tapeta-based surface, weather has minimal effect on how it races.

As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with a slight advantage to those who land forward of midfield and can find a cart into the race from the wider lanes in the straight.

Jockeys to follow:
– Brendon McCoull: 22.3%SR @ 8.4% POT @ Devonport
– Erica Byrne Burke: 19.2%SR @ 9.3% POT @ Devonport

Trainers to follow:
– Glenn Stevenson: 15.7% SR @ 6.5% POT @ Devonport
– Angela Brakey: 12.9%SR @ 3.4% POT @ Devonport

Best Bet

Tequila Spirit (Devonport Race 5 No. 2)

Drawn to lead from start to finish and I think she should do just that. Impressive winner last start 1st up in TAS, over 1150m and I think dropping to the 1009m scamper should be no issue for a repeat performance.

$2.25

How to pick a winner

Best Each Way

King Island (Devonport Race 7 No. 2)

Honest on-pacer who drops massively in class. Hoping Chelsea can put him into the race from the nice draw, landing behind MALEVOLENT and FAST THINKER would be ideal and give him the best chance to be strong late.

$9.50/3.10 (backing on a 1×3 each-way basis)

Best Lay

Whiz By (Devonport Race 1 No. )

Has had every possible thus far in TAS, think market has priced him on his recent placings rather than the quality of form he brings to the contest. Happy to oppose.

Expecting those to run on and have their chance in the straight. Best Bet Egerton (Pakenham Race 2 No. 5) Trialled behind a lot of these and looked very good hitting the line with plenty of steam. The wide draw means it'll get back
