Our Launceston Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Chi Mazel (Launceston Race 2 No. 2)

Fairly confident on a result here, and I think there’s just enough cream in the prices.

CHI MAZEL slightly missed the kick last start and is probably the best winning chance here. I think he finds the front or box seat and should be too good late. Pires is riding super and I think he just wins here despite the gelding’s poor record. Rated Price – $2.50

BACK Chi Mazel for 2 units at $3.00+

Each Way

Blushed (Launceston Race 4 No. 11):

Tough race and not overly keen. Stack of Brunton runners line up away from home which is essentially TAS Racing’s version of Russian roulette.

BLUSHED is a runner of some interest. I thought she went super 1st up over an unsuitable trip, and was soft enough on the line to indicate 1450m 2nd up should be a nice stepping stone. Her form can be tied into the favourite FREAK ON A LEAD, who took on stablemate I’m Back last start after he ran in behind BLUSHED then start prior. Their respective prices just look a fraction too far apart for mine, and happy to back BLUSHED here. Rated Price – $7.00

BACK Blushed for 0.5 units WIN at $8.00+

Best Lay

Gee Gee Miss Quita (Launceston Race 7 No. 1):

GEE GEE MISS QUITA got the chocolates last start to break her maiden, but goes up to a Class 1 here and has to take on a few runners more seasoned than her. The maiden she came out of they went terribly slow even for maiden class and she got all favours up on speed and in the right part of the track. I think she’s a touch short given this and against the likes of TWEE and PUNK PRINCESS she’s the one to be against. Rated Price – $5.50

LAY Gee Gee Miss Quita WIN at < $4.00 for 1 unit

Race Analysis

Rail +11 – Soft 6/7

Should play pretty similar to last meeting held here. ON pace never a bad place to be, but if it’s bottomless they can come off the rail a touch.

R1 Maiden 1200m

Not keen at all here.

HER THOUGHTS can win without me, understand why she’s fave.

BUEL maybe worth forgiving after a horrendous run in transit on debut when well backed. Price probably fair.

AURUM MAN may get last crack at them? Went awful in Melbourne, stable thought it was okay – but looks a limited horse.

R2 Maiden 1620m

Fairly confident on a result here, and I think there’s just enough cream in the prices.

CHI MAZEL slightly missed the kick last start and is probably the best winning chance here. I think he finds the front or box seat and should be too good late. Pires is riding super. Rated Price – $2.50

NEEDS REMEMBERING can go well again if they go forward from the gate and find a spot in the running line. Not sure if he wants the mile, but will be thereabouts. Rated Price – $5.00

BACK Chi Mazel for 2 units at $3.00+

R3 BM60 1620m

Nice little race here, and I’m keen to back one each-way.

CAPTAIN DAVE (currently 1st emergency) looks really well placed here. He comes off a nice gap between runs, since a tough assignment last start in BM62 grade. He has been in the inferior ground his last two starts and run super, if Chelsea Baker can find a nice spot from the wide alley he looks an each-way special. Rated Price – $3.60

BACK Captain Dave for 1 unit EACH-WAY at $4.00/1.80+

R4 BM68 1450m

R5 Class 1 1450m

Pretty tough race here, mainly due to my greyed up thoughts on favourite GAUDI GIRL.

She could absolutely bolt in here, but here run last start was quite strange and the horse looked a bit off to the eye. Happy to see her go round here without me.

WEALLSTUCKATHOME is one that can run well at odds, but will be back and buried with an average pilot aboard – take on trust.

R6 Open HCP 1220m

Race of the day, very keen to watch this one. Looks a two horse race on paper but I think this one will all come down to tactics.

MUSIC ADDITION went nothing short of enormous last start at Launceston, against the pattern and has been given a little reprieve from the track ahead of this – love this little freshen. He’s only been beaten once on TAS soil and I actually think he can pinch this, if Codi Jordan can dictate this from the front (whether it be leading or sitting outside FIVEFINGERDISCOUNT). Rated Price – $2.60

ALPINE WOLF comes off a huge trial performance and looks to have come back super, off a great debut campaign. He’s an absolute jet, and could absolutely walk in here and I wouldn’t be surprised however part of me also thinks he’s got bigger targets in mind, and will be ridden accordingly – conservatively. Rated Price – $3.30

Not really sure what to do here, if MUSIC ADDITION keeps drifting to near $3.00, he’ll get me for something.

BACK Music Addition for 1 unit at $3.00+

R7 1220m Class 1

Pretty average race, but I think there’s one worth taking on.

R8 Class 3 1220m

Another pretty average contest to finish, and I think those at the pointy end of the market have come up a fraction short but I think there’s one worth an interest at a price.

NEV’S BOY looks to have overcome his niggly health issues, with some impressive runs of late. He rattled home against the pattern his last two starts and I think finds a race here where there’s enough speed on, in a small field to be finishing over the top. Rated Price – $7.50

BACK Nev’s Boy for 0.5 units at $8.50+
