Our Hobart Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Just A Tribute (Hobart Race 4 No. 4)

Expecting a genuine tempo here with I’M SO COOL, STEER FOR LADY, CAMPEAO and STRIKE IMPACT all going forward and setting the pace. They’ll be followed by RANSOM TRUST and FURTHER NORTH with JUST A TRIBUTE bringing up the rear.

I’M SO COOL is definitely the map horse here and returned super last start at Launceston, leading them a merry dance for a soft win. This form can be franked by Zewinna in the previous. Admittedly he looks suited here but he’s come up a touch skinny for mine, so I’ll likely be backing him on the drift. The horse I want to be on is JUST A TRIBUTE. This horse had excuses last start coursing wide throughout. He was well found in the market coming over from Melbourne, and it took an impressive front running ride to bring him undone, swooping home when the race was run and won. Happy to be with him at the price vs I’M SO COOL, the market looks the wrong way round.

BACK Just a Tribute for 1.5 units WIN at $3.20+

SAVE I’m So Cool for 0.5 units WIN at $4.50+

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Captain Dave (Hobart Race 5 No. 11) & Alijner (Hobart Race 5 No. 6):

Anticipating a good tempo here with plenty of horses pushing forward from out wide, including LE MONDE DE LUCAS, HERMAN’S BELLS and CAPTAIN DAVE, with THOUGHTS N PRAYERS, LAYLOW PLUCK and THE MASTER SPEED punching forward from underneath, landing behind the speed. ALIJNER, TAVISPLASH, LUCA BRATZI and FOUR LETTER WORD should be settling negative of midfield.

TAVISPLASH is the best horse in the race, but has the world’s most unreliable pilot on… yes, I have PTSD. Gando will restrain and ride it cute, I think she’s unders at current price given the likely run she gets, and the camp tend to want a price to be winning – doubt they’ll be piling into the $2.60 early. Pretty even race outside of TAVISPLASH so keen to spec a few at a price. CAPTAIN DAVE went super last start, leading and kicking for home beautifully at this track and trip. He’ll face similar wet conditions here and give a good sight on speed, at current prices he looks over the odds. Another one over the odds worth something is ALINJER. He went super in the Deloraine cup behind Take The Sit who is a proven black type performer – big price.

BACK Captain Dave for 0.5 units WIN and PLACE at $12/3+

BACK Alinjer for 0.5 units WIN and PLACE at $15/4+

Best Lay

Tennessee Beach (Hobart Race 2 No. 13):

This filly is fairly reliable on face value but arguably finds her deepest race to date here. She’s drawn the carpark in what is likely to end up a full field and at less than even money to run a drum I think we can take her on. Codi Jordan hit back with a great meeting at Devonport to break her run of outs, but she’s not the most decisive of riders from outside draws. That paired with the fact TENNESSEE BEACH (in my opinion) is more of a good musterer in leaving the gates than a genuine speed horse, she’s likely to be caught out wide the entire. This horse doesn’t exactly have the heart of a lion and I reckon she’ll fade to the back of the field if she has the poor run in transit I anticipate.
