Tavikat (Gawler Race 7 No. 3)
This four-year-old Tavistock gelding has been consistent this campaign without managing to win. He didn’t finish off when 5 lengths 4th over 1050m at Oakbank on 29 January, then ran on from midfield to grab 2nd over 1200m at Strathalbyn on 29 January. Has won at this track and distance and looks a nice each-way chance.

Best Lay
Vampire Slayer (Gawler Race 4 No. 1)
This five-year-old mare is the early favourite in this 4YO and upwards Class 1 Handicap over 1100m. She resumed from a 33 week spell to finish 1.7 lengths 2nd over 1000m at Murray Bridge on 20 January, when beaten by an impressive winner. She didn’t do much at either second-up start, so I am prepared to risk her.
