Best Bet | Race 7 #7 Joviality

I know it has only been one run back this preparation, but this I Am Invincible mare looks to have returned to her former self. She was mighty impressive on resumption, running a narrow 0.2 length second to Rule of Law, who has since come out and saluted in benchmark 88 company. They slaughtered the rest of the field by over 3 lengths which holds her in good stead for this one. Despite being up in grade, she drops back to mares’ grade and despite a slightly awkward draw, there isn’t any speed in the race so she should be able to sit in a handy position. James McDonald sticks and I think she is going to be hard to beat.

Suggested bet: 1.5 units @ $3.80

Next best | Race 8 #4 Paulele

This bloke oozes quality and he should be able to show that quality on his resumption this preparation. The son of Dawn Approach won the Rosebud when resuming last preparation before finishing second in the San Domenico and Heritage stakes before convincingly winning the Roman Consul. He has had one trial in preparation for this which is fine as this bloke comes to hand quite quickly, as shown by his 2/2 in first-up runs. He has drawn perfectly to get the dream run and I will be very surprised if he isn’t in the finish.

Suggested bet: 1.5 units @ $2.40

Best each-way | Race 3 #5 Icecrusher

Icecrusher is a former Shayne Cahill trained galloper who came to Sydney at the end of last preparation before making to the change to the Brad Widdup stable to remain in Sydney permanently. After two nice trials in preparation for her new stable debut, she wasn’t far off winning despite the pace being 6.2 lengths above average. She was over-run late by Trajection late in the piece, but the run was very brave considering the run she had and the weight she had to carry. Pre-race earmuffs go on, she goes up to a mile which suits and from the draw, she should be able to sit closer in the run due to the lack of pace. She is a brilliant each-way chance.

Suggested bet: 0.5 units @ $10
