Kovalica (Warwick Farm Race 2 No. 5)
With most of the field yet to tackle 1600m, I sided with a horse who has not only tackled it but won impressively in good time. The Ocean Park gelding sat midfield last start at Wyong before unleashing over the final half of the race and streaking away to a 3.4-length win against the older horses. The start prior first up was very good also, finishing off the race in nice sectionals when 2.5 lengths back in fourth at Newcastle. He now faces 1600m on a bigger track to last start and back his own age. James McDonald will ride him for the first time and from a nice draw, I expect him to keep tabs on the leader before really putting pay to them late.

Preferral (Warwick Farm Race 1 No.7)
I didn’t mind the latest trial from this Almanzor gelding as he looks to open up his career here. He was well held at the back of the field in typical Chris Waller fashion before getting one reminder midway up the straight and finishing the trial in some nice figures. With that trial being over 1257m, he should be primed for this run over 1300m and he has drawn nicely in the field of twelve. He is a decent each-way chance.
