Battenburg (Scone Race 5 No. 1)
This four-year-old gelding trained by John Thompson at Randwick has one win and two places from six starts. He finished 7.7 lengths 6th in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase over 2040m on 26 October after placing in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes at the start before, then resumed from a 75 week spell for a 0.52 length win over 1200m at Goulburn on 8 April. Looks destined for better things and should win.

Banju (Scone Race 7 No. 3):
Banju hasn’t missed a place in his eight starts. He resumed from a 20 week spell with a 0.93 length win over 1200m at Quirindi on 19 February, then got to the front straightening but was headed at the 200m and held on for 1.34 lengths 2nd over 1200m at Dubbo on 5 March. Drawn well in barrier 2 he looks a good each-way bet again.

Croesus (Scone Race 4 No. 5):
This three-year-old Panzer Division gelding trained by Paul Messara is the early favourite in this maiden handicap over 1100m. He has only had one race start where he chased steadily for 3.6 lengths 2nd over 1000m at Muswellbrook on 9 April. He doesn’t offer value in this capacity field.
