This four-year-old Smart Missile gelding trained by David Payne has one win and nine places from 21 starts. He came from well back straightening to chase hard for 2.9 lengths 2nd with the best overall race sectionals over 1500m at Rosehill on 24 July, then ran a similar race to finish 1 lengh 3rd over 1800m at Randwick on 7 August. Will fly home at the finish and should win.

Empowerment (Hawkesbury Race 8 No. 2):
This four-year-old Shooting to Win mare trained by Tracy Bartley at Wyong has three wins and two places from 10 starts. She chased solidly to hit the front at the 200m and kept going for a 1.3 length win over 1200m at Scone on 26 July, then led on the rails and got very tired but just lasted for a 0.3 length win over 1300m at Scone on 3 August. Likely to race on the speed and is a great each-way chance here.

Best Lay
Hamaki (Hawkesbury Race 4 No. 3):
This three-year-old Winning Rupert colt trained by Peter & Paul Snowden has only started once, but is the early favourite in this 3YO maiden handicap over 1000m. He jumped awkwardly then settled 3rd but was beaten att he 200m and winded late to finish 3 lengths 6th over 1100m at Kensington on 4 August. Doesn’t offer value in a race with many unknown quantities.
