I think this is the perfect maiden race for this three-year-old gelding as he looks to finally get a win on the board. His first-up run was really good behind Atlantic Ocean at Warwick Farm in what was a tough maiden race. Despite drawing wide here, he retains Josh Parr, who has come all the way down to the Illawarra for just this ride, so that shows he thinks it’s a definite chance. Up to the 1500m suits and with a run under his belt, he should be thereabouts again.

Principessa (Kembla Grange Race 5 No.9)
He was tremendous in his Australian debut at Canterbury when finishing 1.5 lengths off the winner in third. He finished off really well behind Shohei and Parisal, especially for a horse who was first-up on a wet track. He comes into this second-up and he remains at 1200m, which will ensure that he will be strong late, but I suspect he will be wanting 1400m-1600m sooner rather than later. Jason Collett sticks with him, so I expect a nice ride from a favourable draw.
