I really loved the way this girl really fought hard on her first go on the heavy. She stalked rival Williamsburg the entire way and even leveled up in the straight, but she did get a bit tired and wayward, which is understandable considering the conditions and that she was one run behind her rival. I don’t mind the draw and maybe Berry can settle a little closer in the run as she gives every indication that a mile will suit. She also gets a vital 1kg swing on Williamsburg, which with the impending conditions, will give her a slight edge in her fourth run this preparation.

Icebath | (Randwick Race 9 No.3)
She let me down earlier in the preparation and maybe it was because it was early in her preparation that she didn’t perform as expected on the heavy going. She returned to her brilliant best last start in the Doncaster Mile, running third after coming from way back and was matching the winner a long way before slightly tiring over the final 200m. The quick backup suits as it has in the past, the conditions are ideal and the draw isn’t the worst at this time of the day, especially if McEvoy can get her a touch closer in the run. She should be at peak fitness, and I expect a bold run from her.

I am super keen to make this bloke a bet today, even though the scratchings compress this field. Blinkers are coming off after his monster first-up effort and this is much easier than what he faced in the Galaxy.
