Our Randwick Horse Racing Tips for the weekend. Feature events are the Canterbury Stakes (Race 7) and the Randwick Guineas (Race 8).
Nature Strip (Randwick Race 5 No.1)
Look there are no prizes for finding the champion here, but he should be a lot shorter in my opinion. His run first-up was nothing but brilliant considering what he had to deal with and for him to get as close as he did was incredible. His second-up stats are okay but as are his main rival in Eduardo. A lot of the talk during the week has been how Eduardo likes the wet, but Nature Strip ran his best-ever figure on a heavy track, albeit it was the T J Smith two years ago, but that was the only genuine Soft 7 – Heavy 8 track he has run on. Drawn barrier seven is perfect to follow Eduardo across and box-seat. Champions win, and I think he handles this going better than his rivals.
Suggested Bet: 2.4 units @ $1.70

Best Each Way
Wild Planet (Randwick Race 7 No.6) & Forbidden Love (Randwick Race 7 No.9)
I reckon this bloke is a bit forgotten and missed by the market. He was just okay first-up at Moonee Valley behind the flyer Marabi, where he got into a bumping dual when entering the straight but still found the line well. He again was okay when ninth behind Tofane in the C F Orr Stakes where he looked as though he was just plodding along but still managed top 20 in sectionals late. This is a perfect set-up for him back to 1300m on a bigger track like Randwick and of course, he loves the wet ground. His best runs have come with the sting out of the ground and despite drawing wide, he should get into a nice spot with the small field. William Pike takes the ride and he knows how to navigate from the rear of the field, so I am expecting a massive run and is well worth the each-way bet.
Forbidden Love is the backup bet on the backup run. She was tremendous last start in the Guy Walter, destroying the field comfortably by just over 3.5 lengths on the heavy going. She comes back 100m which is fine though she is up from a Group 2 for mares to an Open Group 1. She maps well and has to be the one to beat again.
Suggested Bet: 0.2 unit @ $21.00 & 1.4 units @ $3.00
Other Bets
Sky Command (Randwick Race 6 No. 13)
She isn’t the worst bet in this race which is red-hot. She had only finished outside the top two twice in her career, once she wound up lame 2/5, and the other she had a poor recovery. Last start she was good but was overrun late in the piece by Shadow Crush. The start prior, she led the entire way from an ideal drawn to salute by less than half a length over Able Willie. She has drawn wide here, but given her racing pattern, it’s going to be no issues whatsoever and the wet track really brings her into calculations, especially if the others don’t handle it well. I think she is a big chance to run a massive race.
Suggested Bet: 0.4 unit @ $12.00
Le Lude (Randwick Race 9 No.8)
I am quite confident that this girl can run a massive race. Her run first-up was very good in Group 2 company, finishing 1.5 lengths off Expat, who dictated the race from the get-go. She goes up to a mile which is ideal, drops back to Group 3 company, drops 1kg from last start going back to a handicap setting, and is drawn well out of barrier four. She is going to sit handy in this race which has little speed and she absolutely loves the wet, so I am expecting her to excel. If she runs anywhere near the race she ran last start, she could prove hard to beat.
Suggested Bet: 0.6 unit @ $7.00
Never Talk (Randwick Race 10 No.10) & Marboosha (Randwick Race 10 No.2)
Hoping we can end the day with a winner between these two.
Never Talk was a black booker from the 19th of February after she ran some incredible sectionals to finish well behind Rule of Law. She gets the wet ground which she relishes and she is 2/3 second-up, so that is no worry. She is drawn nicely out of barrier 4, so hopefully, they put her a little closer in the race so that she won’t have as much to do late in the piece. I am expecting a big run from her here.
Marboosha is coming off a solid fourth in the Bellmaine Stakes behind Probabeel. Her sectionals late were very good and she wasn’t that far away finishing 1.75 lengths off Probabeel and around 1.5 lengths off Flying Mascot who has since won well. She is only fair second-up but the Snowden’s second-up record is nothing to be laughed at and she gets the blinkers for the first time here. She is drawn perfectly in barrier one and with little speed, she should be able to get into a prime position. Not sure how she will go on the heavy but if she improves on her last start rating, she goes close here.
