Clemenceau (Royal Randwick Race 10 No. 7)
Happy to be with this Hawkes-trained gelding in the final race on the card following two seconds in his previous two starts. First up he was unlucky behind Remarque in a similar grade at Rosehill before heading to Moonee Valley for a 1200m race where he finished a length off Zethus, who has since placed in the Caulfield Village Stakes behind Gravina. He has drawn barrier 15/15 here which will make things tricky, but we get 3kg off for an in-form apprentice in Zac Lloyd, so hopefully, that can counteract any wrongdoings in the run. He will need the breaks here but he is better than most of these and has the fitness on his side to ensure he will be right there in the finish.

Belle Plaisir (Royal Randwick Race 9 No.9)
This is a terrific each-way bet. Last start she proved that she could handle the heavy going in a quality race when running 1.3 lengths back in second behind Sirileo Miss in the Ladies’ Day Vase which was over the mile. I don’t mind the drop back to 1400m for this one and the blinkers are going on for the first time which might give her the extra length needed to put some of these away. She has drawn well, takes on her own sex and is well over the odds.
