Nugget (Kembla Grange Race 9 No. 4)
This guy had a fantastic first-up run on Cup day after over a year off in what was his Australian debut. He hit the line well enough but I think he hit the front a bit too soon and his fitness did lack over the final 200m. He comes into this race much fitter, back in grade slightly, and steps up to the mile. His form four wins in his career were over the mile overseas so distance is no issue and the firm surface will suit him down to the ground. He will need some luck from the draw, but he is the best horse in this race, and he should be winning with even luck.

Broken Arrows (Kembla Grange Race 6 No.15)
I loved his first-up run at Rosehill in a benchmark 78 where he sat fourth in the run and just couldn’t get past the leaders but still managed to hold off the rest of the field by just over 1.5 lengths. He should come on nicely from that run and his second-up record is quite nice. He has drawn nicely, loves the firmer surfaces, will appreciate the fast pace in front, and is back against his own sex. He is over the odds.
