Samoot (Rosehill Race 10 No.6)

This girl was nothing but impressive in her Australian debut at a track that isn’t known for winning backmarkers. She was a touch slow out, but that didn’t matter as they were always going to go back on her, and she made her move in the straight off an average tempo, which makes it even more impressive. Not only that, but her form over in England has been on firmer surfaces, so taking it all into account, her 3 length win eased down was immaculate. The sectionals back up the eye, running the quickest final 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m of the race and sixth quickest, ninth quickest, fifteenth quickest and fifth quickest over those sectionals for the entire meeting.

Whether the surface improves or not she will run well, will camp off the speed and hopefully be within range on the turn.

Suggested Bet: 0.6 unit @ $7.50

Zeyrek (Rosehill Race 3 No.5)

Look, I did blackbook his rival in Luncies but they lack of speed engaged in this race has swayed me towards this guy. His sectionals were brilliant late in the race, running the tenth quickest final 400m of the meeting and eighth quickest final 200m of the meeting also. The extra 400m is going to suit him down to the ground and if there were any doubts over whether he could handle the going, he destroyed those doubts last start. As I mentioned, there isn’t a lot of pace in this race, so he should get into an awesome spot from barrier 10. He can replicate last start and kick away here.

Suggested Bet: 0.9 unit @ $4.60

Other Bets

Mazu (Rosehill Race 2 No.4) / Chartres (Rosehill Race 2 No.8)

Mazu has been in terrific form as he looks to make it three on the trot. His run last start has merit as he did lose a plate in the run on-route to to his 1.1 length victory. He faces a much easier field here and only goes up half a kilo whilst drawing barrier one. He has the best set-up and will be hard to beat. Chartres is one I don’t mind at odds to run a big race. He was held up around the 200m last start and ended up going down by 2.3 lengths to Finance Tycoon in the Zeditave Stakes. He almost ran a peak performance last start despite not winning and a wet track enhances his chances. He is a cheeky side bet for this race.

Suggested Bet: 1.8 unit @ $2.30 / 0.3 unit @ $15.00

Forbidden Love (Rosehill Race 7 No.9) / Mo’unga (Rosehill Race 7 No.2)

I really think it’s almost a race in two, so let’s back them both.

Forbidden Love is a mare in form, winning back to back races in back to back weeks. She salutes by over 3.5 lengths in the Guy Walter before backing up a week late to take out the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes. She is fighting fit, will appreciate the wet going again and the step up to 1500m will pose no problems for her. She also maps to get a similar run to her win in the Guy Walter, so the connections will be full of confidence coming into this. Mo’unga was massive in his first-up effort behind Sierra Sue in the Futurity Stakes and almost had a new peak rating. He would prefer it dryer no doubt but he has a class edge on most of these and is drawn perfectly to get a sweet run. He is a big chance to shake this race up.

Suggested Bet: 1.2 units @ $3.50 / 1 unit @ $4.00

Away Game (Rosehill Race 9 No.6)

Having a small play at one slightly over the odds. There is no doubt the favourite is well placed but behind that, there are a lot of runners who are chances of running big races, and this girl is one of them.

She has placed in all three runs this preparation with her latest in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate behind Marabi. She ran some tremendous sectionals behind the winner, repeating her efforts of her first-up run and getting close to the unbeaten star. She is super fit, doesn’t mind the sting out of the ground and I love the fact Linda Meech is down to ride her. There is a lot of pace but she is drawn nicely in barrier six and she can camp off the hot pace before making her run. She is worth a small bet at the price.

Suggested Bet: 0.4 unit @ $13.00

Total Units: 6.2

Best Lay

Le Lude (Rosehill Race 4 No.1)

Got it all her own way last start. Gives 2kg to the rest of the field and won’t get her own way in front again.

Our Pinjarra Park Horse Racing Tips for Thursday's meeting. Key Comments There are 7 races and the rail is +4 metres the entire circuit. Best Bet Another Strike (Pinjarra Park Race 6 No. 2) He was a 1.3 length winner over 140m at Ascot last start after narrowly missing to be runner-up over 1300m at Pinjarra the start before. The way he ran on at the end suggests the rise in trip will suit. Leading hope. $2.25
