Stockman (Royal Randwick Race 4 No. 2)
I think the market has this one wrong and the wrong horse as favourite. Stockman is going better than ever in this preparation following two slashing fourths against tough opposition. Two runs back he was a decent fourth behind Alegron, Benaud, and Knight’s Order over the unsuitable 2000m, with all those horses contesting the Caulfield Cup this weekend. Last start in the Metropolitan, he again ran fourth to a Caulfield Cup contender in No Compromise whilst giving his rivals weight as the top weight in the race. He is better weighted for this contest with his main rival Cadre Du Noir yet to face a rival like Stockman. I think our bloke is ready to win and should be hard to hold out.

Private Eye (Royal Randwick Race 7 No.6)
Following his massive return in the Gilgai Stakes at Flemington, it seems as though this bloke has been trained to win some sprint races this preparation. There is no doubting his class after he finished second to Alligator Blood in the Stradbroke last preparation and with the amount of pace that will be present in this race, he can get a nice run from barrier 3 before unleashing with his brilliant turn-of-foot. They may all be fighting out for second and third if Nature Strip produces his best, but at around $3.60 to run a place, it is well worth the punt.
Current Price: $15.00

Our Pakenham Tips for Friday's meeting. Key Comments The feature race is the $300,000 Pakenham Cup (race 8). 9 race program and the best bet comes up in the Cup. Best Bet Dunkel (Pakenham Race 8 No. 1) Happy to be with Dunkel who is a line finder and a winner. Concede $3.00 is around the right price and wouldn't want much shorter but he has a brilliant record and looks well placed here. $2.90

Our Launceston Horse Racing Tips for Friday. The track is a Good 4 and the rail is true for the evening meeting. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with an advantage to those who find the inside lanes in the straight. Best Bet Elegantly Written (Launceston Race 3 No. 11) She was crowded at the start and raced wide without cover in the back half of the field before descending

Our Esperance Horse Racing Tips for Friday’s meeting. Comments The track is soft and the rail is in the true position. Best Bet Uncompromised (Esperance Race 6 No. 1) His last 4 starts have all been at this distance and he's won 3 and been runner-up once. Loves this track and is the standout top pick. $2.45 Each Way Scottish Laird (Esperance Race 2 No. 1) Scottish Laird is a last-start winner

Our Cranbourne Tips for Thursday's meeting. Key Comments The rail is true the entire circuit for the night meeting. The best bet is due for a change of luck and the usual jockey hops aboard to atone. Best Bet Brier (Cranbourne Race 3 No. 2) Hasn't had much luck to date and finds the right race to atone. Drawn well and Hefel sticks, she would be keen to get the right steer in and the price has been well tried. $2.40
