Unpredicted (Newcastle-Beaumont Race 7 No. 1)
Happy to side with this son of Rubick, who is looking to hit back after a poor display at Muswellbrook. He sat in the front to on the day whilst being up into open company and he raced too keen and faded badly to finish a distant last. I like that he is back to a benchmark 58 and Chelsea Hillier is back aboard which gives him a 4kg weight relief which is beneficial. The draw is okay as they will likely push forward regardless and I love that the tongue tie has come off, as it means they may have rectified a breathing issue. Happy to back this bloke each-way at the price.

Our Candidate (Newcastle-Beaumont Race 6 No.1)
He was very good first up in the Port Macquarie Cup, finishing 1.7 lengths back in third behind Quality Time. He ran some tremendous sectionals before fading a touch over the final 200m. He should improve nicely second-up and this is much easier than he contested last start. Despite the big weight, he has a very good high-weight jockey and the draw is ideal so he should be able to get a soft run.
