Waihaha Falls (Newcastle Race 9 No. 1)
I have always had plenty of time for this Sacred Falls gelding and he caught everyone’s attention first up. He got well back in the Sydney Stakes due to the poor draw before running some nice sectionals to finish 1.1 length off the winner in fourth, which was a massive run. He went straight into the blackbook after that as he is pretty lightly raced and is destined for bigger things. He is the fourth emergency for the Hunter, and he would go close there, which means he is a terrific chance here in an easier contest. He has drawn well, he will suit Newcastle’s straight and despite being top weight, he gets a handy 1.5kg off due to Reece Jones who rode him in both of his big wins last preparation. He looks mighty hard to beat.

Kermanding (Newcastle Race 10 No.12)
He ran a solid figure first up at Warwick Farm when second behind Cinque Torri, in a race that has since produced two winners and four placings, most notably Cisco Bay. Last start he just didn’t show the same vigour as the past and raced plainly, though it was the wettest track he has ridden on to date, so he will appreciate the dry surface presented to him on Saturday. He remains at the mile third up, he has drawn nicely and a return to his form two starts ago has him going close.
Current Price: $8.50

The features are the Hellova Street Stakes (race 7), Launceston Cup (race 8) and Vamos Stakes (race 9). As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with an advantage to those who find the inside lanes in the straight.
