K-Mac is really out of form but its hard to go past Compassionate here. If it produces a run like its last it will win this race. Its 3rd was excellent and both runners in front of it are favourites for stronger benchmark races on Saturday in Sydney. From barrier 6 he should get a nice run in transit, the form looks brilliant here.

Lucky Variety (Canterbury Race 3 No. 8)
Fantastic race with some very good runners in this but it is absolutely impossible to go past lucky Variety on form. Its only defeat this prep was to Fashion Legend who won the 3YO Guineas today in the Gold Coast. If that isn’t good form for this I don’t know what is.

Best Lay
French Marine (Canterbury Race 4 No. 1)
Loath to take on Gibbo but from the wide draw and in a very packed race the price looks short enough for French Marine. He will need some luck in running and there is some outstanding value in this race.
