Icebath (Newcastle Race 8 No. 3)
She has accepted for the Group 1 George Main Stakes on Saturday, but this looks like a much more winnable race. The daughter of Sacred Falls ran credibly first up in the Winx Stakes before dropping back to the Group 2 Tramway Stakes, where she ran some slashing sectionals when 1.8 lengths off Zaaki. This is a further drop back into Group 3 fillies & mares company and she has drawn ideally to sit wherever they please. I think this race is hers for the taking and there has been some rain around which won’t hinder her chances.

Martini Crusader (Newcastle Race 5 No.4)
Went a bit left field with this one but this son of Pride Of Dubai has been in terrific form. He is yet to finish out of the top two this preparation with one of those being a win here at Newcastle three back. Last start at Wyong, he was a solid second behind Kokoro, who has since placed in midweek company. He has come back to Newcastle and steps up to the 1850m which shouldn’t pose a problem as he has placed over that distance prior. He has led before, so with Tim Clark booked to ride and there not being a lot of pace, I am expecting them to head to the front and play catch me if you can.
