This four-year-old I Am Invincible gelding trained by Simon Miller has one win and three places from five starts. He took over at the 200m and kept going despite laying in for a 1.4 length win over 1000m at Pinjarra on 10 June, then paired off at the 100m but was outmuscled late for 0.7 length 2nd over 1000m at Belmont on 26 June. Resumes from a 25 week spell and won a Belmont trial on 6 December. Will be hard to beat

Almaher Man (Ascot Race 4 No. 3):
This three-year-old Gingerbread Man gelding trained by Fred Kersley has one win and five place from seven starts. He fought hard but was overhauled late for a length 2nd over 1400m at Belmont on 1 December, then peeled three wide into the straight and forged to the line reaching the front late for a 0.3 length win over 1400m at Ascot on 8 December. Looks a solid each-way chance.

Bandalera (Ascot Race 6 No. 12):
This six-year-old Blackfriars mare has two wins and six places from 29 starts and is the early favourite in this Class Three Handicap over 1800m. She levelled up into the straight but was outmuscled in the final 100m for 1.7 lengths 4th over 1600m at Geraldton on 2 November, then wound up steadily and took over late for a 0.4 length win over 1600m at Pinjarra on 5 December. I can’t see her going back to back and don’t expect her to win.

Best Bet Flame Tree Star (Grafton Race 1 No. 1) Has a booming turn of foot and while Swanston doesn't have the easiest pattern to catch, this track does suit and that shows with the 9 placings
