This four-year-old Declaration Of War gelding has four placings from five runs this preparation. He ran on strongly to almost get there in the final stride for a narrow 2nd over 1675m at Bunbury on 11 February, then got to the front but was overhauled out wide for 1.22, 0.02 length 3rd over 1600m at Ascot on 27 February. He is ready to win in this small field.

Winsalot (Ascot Race 6 No. 9):
This three-year-old War Chant filly has raced nine times for one win and two places. She ran on strongly to win a maiden over 1300m at Pinjarra on 21 February, then peeled wide and ran on for 2.39 lengths 2nd over 1500m at Ascot on 10 March. On a seven day back-up here she should settle just off the speed and is well worth an each-way bet.

Congreve Rocket (Ascot Race 7 No. 7):
This three-year-old Starspangledbanner gelding has one win and one place from four starts and is the early favourite in this Class 3 Handicap over 1200m. He led to the turn but was winded in the straight for 4.17 lengths 9th over 1200m at Ascot on 24 October, then led but was swamped in the final 100m for 1.77 lengths 5th over 1100m at Ascot on 3 November. Returning from a 19 week spell he was 3rd in a Pinjarra Park trial recently but I think he will find this too hard first up.

That will suit the best bet who loves racing here and comes up later in the day. Best Bet Flame Tree Star (Grafton Race 1 No. 1) Has a booming turn of foot and while Swanston doesn't have the easiest pattern to catch, this track does suit and that shows with the 9 placings
