This four-year-old Deep Field gelding has a win and five places from 7 starts. He chased solidly for 2.1 lengths 4th over 1600m at Swan Hill on 10 September, then chased hard for 1.1 lengths 3rd over 1300m at Warrnambool on 14 October. Resumes from a 12 week let-up and is beautifully placed in this Class 1 handicap. Will be hard to beat.

Rhythm Star (Belmont Race 7 No. 3):
This five-year-old Blackfriars mare trained by Colin Webster has three wins and eight places from 19 starts. She ran on from well back in the field for 0.4 length 2nd over 1600m at Pinjarra on 12 December, then was overhauled late for 0.2 length 2nd over 1800m at Ascot on 22 December. Has placed at all four runs this preparation and is a solid each-way chance in this Class 3 handicap.

Best Lay
Fire Goddess (Belmont Race 8 No. 6):
This five-year-old Playing God mare trained by Todd Harvey is the early favourite in this RTG 50+ handicap over 1400m. At the end of last campaign she finished 7 lengths 7th over 2300m at Pinjarra on 6 June then was spelled for 27 weeks. She resumed for a 0.4 length win over 1190m at Narrogin where she ran home strongly. This looks harder and I’m prepared to risk her.
