Our Northam Horse Racing Tips for Thursday’s meeting.

George Gently (Northam Race 7 No. 2)

This five-year-old gelding trained by Meryl Hayley at Gingin has three places from his four starts. He kept coming gamely near the inside for a length 3rd over 1300m at Northam on 11 August, then ran on from 11th for 0.9 length 2nd over 1400m at Belmont on 31 August with some fast closing sectionals.Likely to race off the speed and is a strong hope.

Each Way

Niigata (Northam Race 8 No. 7)

This four-year-old Reset mare has improved with each of her three runs this campaign. She was held up for the majority of the straight when 2.3 lengths 6th over 1200m at Belmont where she looked to have plenty to offer, then she loomed at the 175m but was jostled late and finished 1.2 lengths 4th ove 1400m at Belmont on 31 August. Has draenthe inside barrier and looks a great each-way chance.

Best Lay

Special Sort (Northam Race 5 No. 12)

This three-year-old gelding trained by Adam Durrant is the early favourite in this Maiden race over 1600m. He has raced twice and ran 3rd both times. On debut he kept coming for 1.3 lengths 3rd in a field of five over 1500m at Pinjarra on 18 August, then edged ahead at the 200m before being overhauled in the final 100m for 1.4 lengths 3rd over 1600m at Northan on 1 September. Gets the winkers on for the first time, but a couple of other runners look closer to a win.

Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet can land us a win in the first. Best Bet Pee Dee (Quirindi Race 2 No. 1) Has been sound in both efforts to date and this race lacks any depth. The 5th last start is better than it reads on paper and that is in a race much harder than this. Goes in the mix here. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bhakti Dave Each Way

Horse Racing Tips: NSW Tuesday 30th April 2024

Key Comments A big 10 race card takes place. The rail is in 3 metres. The track usually suits those who can sustain a long run to the line. That will suit the best bet who loves racing here and comes up later in the day. Best Bet Flame Tree Star (Grafton Race 1 No. 1) Has a booming turn of foot and while Swanston doesn't have the easiest pattern to catch, this track does suit and that shows with the 9 placings
