Elite Street | (Northam Race 7 No.1) / Massimo | (Northam Race 7 No.3) / Indian Pacific | (Northam Race 7 No.5)

This is the feature of the day, and I like three runners who are all first-up, well 10/11 runners are first-up, but you get what I mean. Elite Street is coming off a brave run in the Winterbottom where he bled and copped a three-month ban, but he has since trialled okay in preparation for this and there is no doubting his class. He will give them a start but has the motor to win. Massimo finished last preparation behind Valour Road and Stageman in the A.J Scahill Stakes over the 1400m. He has since trialled impressively and gets the tongue-tie back on for this first-up run. He has drawn ideally to get a sweet run throughout, so I expect him in the finish. Indian Pacific is the other I like who has a bit of a mixed preparation which finished with a sixth in the Winterbottom, where he was wide throughout. He has a tremendous first-up record and has trialled twice in preparation for this, so I reckon they are ready to win. He is drawn well and maps well, he will fight this finish out also.

Best Each Way

Money For Old Rope | (Northam Race 6 No.3)

I don’t mind the former Lindsay Smith trained galloper who is now being trained by Mark Bairstow in Port Kennedy. He brings over form from the East which consists of two seconds at Warrnambool behind Mingora and Prospettiva before finally winning one at Hamilton over the mile. Since coming over, he has had two nice trials in preparation for this and he will have the tongue-tie applied for the first time. Brad Parnham takes the ride, and he will have a little task to navigate a nice run from the outside gate, so his decision in the first 100m will determine his race. I think he is the best horse in this race, he will just need the luck.

Best Lay

Winning Pia | (Northam Race 2 No.5)

I haven’t rated her previous runs highly despite her running well enough last start. I think she is going to get stuck on the rail for the majority of this race and will need some luck. She is also on the quick backup, so she may not handle it well, it is an unknown. Happy to risk at the price.
