My Mate | (Belmont Race 5 No. 1)
This bloke has had a tremendous preparation winning three of his last four with a placing in between. Last start at Ascot over the 1400m, he led the entire way when saluting by 0.4 of a length, beating home The Velvet Queen. He tackles the same distance and grade here at Belmont and gets a vital 3kg claim of Victoria Corver, which will be essential towards the end of this race. He looks to get an easy lead with little speed in this race and if he can control the race, he will be hard to run down.

Startrade | (Belmont Race 9 No.9)
Quite an open race here in the last and I have sided with the Parnham/Morton combination. Startrade was impressive first-up at Geraldton, travelling wide without cover for the majority of the even though he carried 61.5kg, and still managed to finish 0.13 of a length back in second. It was a peak performance by him and he comes to town with plenty of confidence. The draw is a touch awkward but with luck, I think he is a terrific each-way chance.

Our Newcastle tips for Tuesday's meeting. Key Comments The rail is in 10 metres which is rare to see at Newcastle. The best bet was incredibly unlucky last start and gets the right race to attempt breaking maiden. Best Bet Perri Lass (Newcastle Race 6 No. 11) Perri Lass didn't have much luck last run and can atone in this field. Maps well for Gibbo who retains the ride after not being able to get clean air at a vital time last start.

The track is a Good 4 with the rail in the true position. The Best Bet is very short but looks a moral. Best Bet Reel Whiskey (Balaklava Race 2 No. 12) He finished a neck back from the leader last start over 1200m at Gawler on 20th January and has the speed to overcome the wide draw.
