Our Strathalbyn Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.

Does It (Strathalbyn Race 6 No. 1)
The step up in distance will suit this five-year-old Pins gelding from the in-form Richard & Chantelle Jolly stable. He was always well back when 4.7 lengths 9th over 1550m at Morphettville Parks on 19 February, then worked home nicely from well back to finish 3.7 lengths 2nd over 1600m at Murray Bridge on 5 March. Has drawn the rails and is the leading hope.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Mavette (Strathalbyn Race 4 No. 3):
This five-year-old Al Maher gelding trained by John Hickmott & Carina Riggs at Murray Bridge has four wins and eight places from 45 starts. He got well back to a clear last before finishing 12.3 lengths 8th over 1600m at Strathalbyn on 16 February, then battled solidly but was no match the final 125m and finished 4.6 lengths 5th over 1700m at Penola on 18 March. On a five day backup and the 4kg claim for Lachlan Overall makes him look a nice each-way chance.

Best Lay

Ballroom Dancer (Strathalbyn Race 2 No. 6):
This five-year-old Rock Hero mare trained by Dion Koch is the early favourite in this Maiden Plate over 2050m. When resuming froma 19 week spell she didn’t come on in the straight for 4.2 lengths 9th over 1600m at Strathalbyn on 16 February, then she came from last with a huge run to finish 1.8 lengths 3rd over 1600m at Strathalbyn on 9 March. That was her only placing in 9 starts and I’m prepared to risk her here.
