It’s been two wins from two starts for this four-year-old Statue Of Liberty gelding from the Toby & Trent Edmonds stable. He debuted with a narrow win over 1000m at Sunshine Coast on 24 October, then had a nine week break. When resuming he hit the front at the top of the straight and raced away for a 4.8 length win over 1260m at Ballina on 27 December. Has had a seven week break and looks tough to beat.

Soubrette (Doomben Race 5 No. 2):
This six-year-old Spirit of Boom mare trained by Brian Smith has five wins and seven places from 22 starts. She faded in the straight for 4.5 lengths 5th over 1200m at Eagle Farm on 18 December, then was held up before the home turn and ran on well for 0.5 length 2nd at Ipswich on 9 February. The 3kg will help and she handles soft going. Looks a solid each-way chance.

Always On Show (Doomben Race 7 No. 6):
This four-year-old mare trained by Kris Lees is the early favourite in this BM 68 handicap over 1640m. She was never really clear when 2.1 lengths 5th over 1900m at Canterbury on 7 January, then didn’t run on when 6.8 lengths 6th in the Magic Millions Open Quality Handicap over 1800m at Gold Coast on 15 January. Down in grade and up in weight. Hasn’t been in the trifecta in six runs this campaign, and happy to risk.
