This five-year-old Atlante gelding trained by Paul Duncan has four wins and one place from eight starts. He settled 5th and battled home for 3.9 lengths 4th over 1400m at Eagle Farm on 31 July, then held them all at bay for a length win over 1600m at Sunshine Coast on 5 September. Can handle soft going and rates highly.

Duble Gaze (Ipswich Race 8 No. 8):
This seven-year-old Dubleo mare has had four wins and nine places from 39 starts. She fought evenly near the inside for 5.2 lengths 6th over 1600m at Sunshine Coast on 22 August, then came from well back to take over at the 200m and win by a length over 1500m at Rockhampton on 31 August. That was a nice performance and she looks worth an each-way bet.

Xanthus (Ipswich Race 5 No. 1):
This five-year-old Better Than Ready gelding trained by Matthew Dunn is the early favourite in this Class 4 handicap over 1350m. When resuming from a 16 week break he was slowly away and didn’t run on, finishing 9.6 lengths 9th over 1200m At Eagle Farm on 31 July. Next start he finished 0.7 length 3rd over 1200m at Murwillumbah where he chased solidly. He rises 3.5 kg from last run and has not won beyond 1200m. Others offer better value.

That will suit the best bet who loves racing here and comes up later in the day. Best Bet Flame Tree Star (Grafton Race 1 No. 1) Has a booming turn of foot and while Swanston doesn't have the easiest pattern to catch, this track does suit and that shows with the 9 placings
