Eloquently (Eagle Farm Race 9 No. 1)
This three-year-old Poet’s Voice filly trained by Steve Tregea at Toowoomba has five wins and a place from eight starts. She hit the front at the 150m and won by 0.4 length over 1000m at Sunshine Coast on 11 July, then ran down the leader in the final stages to win by 2.25 lengths over 1050m at Doomben on 24 July. She is absolutely flying and will be very hard to beat.

Gdansk (Eagle Farm Race 5 No. 4):
This three-year-old Dissident gelding trained by Toby & Trent Edmonds has two wins and four places from 10 starts. He was tightened at the start and lost ground then ran on for 0.4 length 2nd over 1200m at Gold Coast on 12 June, then hung out in the final stages for a close 2nd over 1400m at Gold Coast on 26 June. Gets the winkers on for the first time and looks a good each-way proposition.

Best Lay
Matowi (Eagle Farm Race 8 No. 6):
This five-year-old Ocean Park gelding trained by Chris Waller is the early favourite in the James Squire Open handicap over 1400m. At the end of last campaign he was galloped on and finished 4.9 lengths 10th in the Tatts Members Cup over 1600m at Sunshine Coast on 27 February. Resuming after 20 weeks he ran on to just miss for a narrow 2nd over 1200m at Eagle Farm on 17 July and protested unsuccessfully, He has not won in five second-up starts and I don’t think he will win here.
