Can win first-up and will be hard to beat

Irish Sequel (Doomben Race 4 No. 9):
This six -year-old Invincible Spirit gelding trained by Chris Waller has two wins and four places from 15 starts. Resuming after a 19 week spell he did his best work late when 0.6 lengths 3rd over 1400m at Eagle Farm on 4 September, then fought on for 1.5 lengths 5th over 1800m at Gold Coast on 18 September. He should get a soft run from barrier 2 and looks a good each-way chance.

Spaceboy (Doomben Race 8 No. 5):
This five-year-old Deep Field gelding trained by Gary Portelli is the early favourite in this Open Quality Handicap over 1050m. He was leading straightening but was run down late for 0.4 length 2nd over 1100m at Randwick on 31 July, then led early but finished 3.5 lengths 9th in the Group 3 The Heath 1100 over 1100m at Caulfield on 28 August. That was a little disappointing and I’m prepared to risk him here.

That will suit the best bet who loves racing here and comes up later in the day. Best Bet Flame Tree Star (Grafton Race 1 No. 1) Has a booming turn of foot and while Swanston doesn't have the easiest pattern to catch, this track does suit and that shows with the 9 placings
