With three wins from three starts this campaign, Lee Freedman is putting this four-year-old Medaglia d’Oro gelding in the right races. He was bumped at the start before going on to a 0.2 length win over 1200m at Gold Coast on soft going on 11 December, then led all the way for a lovely 2.5 length win over 1200m at Kilcoy on 13 January. Rates highly.

Bengal Bandit (Doomben Race 4 No. 1):
This four -year-old Brazen Beau gelding trained by Lauren Abbott has four wins and six places from 13 starts. He battled on for 3 lengths 3rd in an Open Handicap over 1600m at Ballina on 27 December, then bolted in for a 3.5 length win on heavy going over 1600m at Ipswich on 8 January. Has drawn the outside barrier but has the speed to overcome that. Looks a nice each-way chance.

Kipsbay (Doomben Race 5 No. 11):
This Capitalist gelding trained by Chris Waller is the early favourite in this 3YO colts and geldings handicap over 1200m. He had some problems when 3 lengths 6th over 1000m at Warwick Farm on 1 December, then chased hard for 0.4 length 2nd over 1100m at Canterbury on 17 December. Still a maiden against a field where most have already tasted victory. Offers no value.
