Our Canterbury Horse Racing Tips for this Wednesday.
Too Much Lippy | (Canterbury Race 3 No.4)
Both the early favourites should be too good for their opponents here, but I think the Ryan/Alexiou runner will get the nod over Daralina Belle due to the way the stable sets its runners up first-up. Too Much Lippy comes to hand quickly, as was seen last preparation at Wyong, where she saluted nicely by almost 2 lengths. That run is significant for this race for a couple of reasons. Firstly the tight-turning track which is similar to Canterbury, her being first-up and of course the wet ground. I know it was maiden grade, but she proved later in the preparation, that she is up to better grades. She had a nice trial in the lead-up where Nash had a good grip on her and she went to and through the line nicely, nothing overly flash. From a beautiful draw, I think Nash will take the running up on her here or at least be handy if something takes her on. I think this is the perfect kick-off for her in mares grade.

Andermatt | (Canterbury Race 5 No.3)
I think this is the perfect race for the son of Snitzel to resume. He came back from his gelding operation for one start last preparation at Kembla Grange, and despite winning the race, he got tipped out for another break. I have a strange feeling the stable expected a bit more from him on his return and despite running a new peak figure, maybe the gear change of the blinkers coming off might just get him to produce what they are looking for. His two trials this time in have been very good and I am expecting a solid return. If he matches or betters his figure from his last start, he puts these away easy with even luck.

Sweet Baby Boom | (Canterbury Race 1 No.11) / Chipper | (Canterbury Race 1 No.2)
I like both of these runners and we can back both and profit with a winner.
Sweet Baby Boom was fantastic on debut, especially considering she did some early work (that the stewards questioned) to get into prime position. Despite being headed around the 250m mark, she kept fighting and didn’t give in, and was even solid through the line as she finished 2.5 lengths back in third. I think they fancy her a little bit as she was entered to go to the Wellington Boot which ended up being abandoned. She has the speed here to get into her preferred position and will be much better here second-up.
Chipper’s last run, I am putting a line through. He was wide without cover throughout and laid in in the straight when he started to tire, finishing 2.6 lengths back in third. Drawn much better here, he can return to the form he showed the start prior behind Spacewalk, who come out and placed in Group 3 company on the weekend. Nash is back on and 1200m looks to suit.

Fill of Fun | (Canterbury Race 6 No.7)
Bit of a rough chance but I just love the way this race pans out for the daughter of Uncle Mo. She ran credibly over her last two runs, despite being majorly outclassed in Group 3 company. She drops back majorly to benchmark 72 quality and despite the wide draw, she has the pace and fitness to make her way to the front, especially with the weight claim of Ellen Hennessy. The improving track is going to help and I truly think she is over the odds as she will be in this race a long way. If you’re an each-way player, this bet is for you!

Easy Campese | (Canterbury Race 7 No.5) / Diamil| (Canterbury Race 7 No.9)
I am of the strong belief the winner comes from these two with the amount of first-up horses and horses early in their preparation.
Easy Campese was always going on top for me here as he looks to get an uncontested lead with no weight on his back. He ran another brilliant race last start before being beaten late by the talented Azarmin. He is drawn perfectly to do little work to lead on the rail and is fighting fit compared to his rivals. If he can pinch some cheap sectionals, it’s going to be very hard to catch him, especially for the favourite.
Look I will be honest, I was going to leave him out, but he is the only logical danger to Easy Campese. Diamil has the talent but he is drawn awkwardly and unless they go into a more prominent position, they are going to be flat-chat at trying to catch the leader. He is progressive and even if defeated here, he will lose no admirers but never say never right? He is purely in here as cover and as I have said, these are the logical two.

Zou Tiger (Canterbury Race 1 No.8)
This opening race has three around the top of the market, and this is the one I am against. It’s going to be tough debuting at Canterbury on a wet track, albeit an improving wet track. He is taking on a couple of really fit horses and with a delayed start to his preparation, I expect him to be in the contest before weakening. I think he will go somewhere in the future, I just don’t think today will be his day.
Happy to go around him.
