Derbari looks big odds in this and I think it represents excellent value at the $9. It handles the ground, maps for the gun run, drops in grade and the talented Dylan Gibbons is aboard. Its best efforts would go very close to taking this out and I have it marked a lot shorter than the current price.

Elusive Birdie has come back well and ran a great race first up in what was a deep maiden. Rachel King will need some luck from barrier 6 but this is a winnable race and any improvement off the first-up run sees it in the finish.

Best Lay
This’llbetheone (Hawkesbury Race 7 No. 4)
Has shown glimpses of talent but has never seen a wet track and both its career wins have been by the barest of margins. Has had 5 months off and looks vulnerable taking on some rock hard fit horses and a lot of these are proven on the heavy. I can’t see the value in the current $2.50 on offer.
