Cross The Rubicon (Newcastle Race 8 No. 11)
You’ll struggle to see one more airborne than Cross The Rubicon. It took a little while to find clean air last start but once it did, it exploded to the line and was eased over the final stages. Collett will need a little luck from the draw but Cross The Rubicon is airborne for the new stable and can certainly handle the rise in grade. Over the odds for mine.

Glowing Red (Newcastle Race 6 No. 1)
Glowing Red can run a nice race first-up at odds with Dylan Gibbons steering who is 1/1 aboard. This is also the right distance for Glowing Red as it is unbeaten over 1200 from two attempts. Down to 58kgs after the claimer and launching from barrier 4 there are great each-way claims for it at the $13 mark. I also like the claims of Kipsbay in the race with a subsequent winner coming out of its past run.

Eva Daniela (Newcastle Race 1 No. 8)
Eva Daniela trialled well but did look a bit tardy out of the gates which may prove costly over the 900. Spending Spree can push forward and may be able to get in front of Eva Daniela early and with race fitness on its side does look the better value in the race. Eva Daniela looks an improver but also does seem slightly priced on the jockey aboard and failed at its only race day attempt. Looks skinny at the $2.50 with a lack of gate speed from barrier 1.

Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet can land us a win in the first. Best Bet Pee Dee (Quirindi Race 2 No. 1) Has been sound in both efforts to date and this race lacks any depth. That will suit the best bet who loves racing here and comes up later in the day. Best Bet Flame Tree Star (Grafton Race 1 No. 1) Has a booming turn of foot and while Swanston doesn't have the easiest pattern to catch, this track does suit and that shows with the 9 placings
